Mar 01, Colombo: The incumbent Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket, Nishantha Ranatunga has been reelected without a contest.
Ranatunga was the only candidate who handed over nominations for the position yesterday.
He contested individually and the other two groups did not submit nominations for the post of secretary paving way for him to be reelected without a contest.
Nishantha Ranatunga is a brother of former World Cup winning Sri Lanka captain and opposition MP Arjuna Ranatunga.
In a surprising move, incumbent President Upali Dharmadasa handed over nominations for the post to re-elect at the last moment yesterday. Earlier he announced that he would not contest and his brother Jayantha Dharmadasa would contest for the coveted post.
Former president Thilanga Sumathipala and president of Badureliya Cricket Association Sumith Perera have also handed over nominations for the post of president.
