Jan 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa Wednesday (30) ceremonially opened the "Miloda Academy of Financial Studies", the first ever institution solely dedicated to financial studies.
The Miloda Academy in the renovated Times Building has been built with the assistance of the Japan International Corporation (JICA).
The institute is to be maintained as an international financial institute and it is expected to offer courses complying with international standards. The institute will be functioning under the aegis of the Finance Ministry.
The Academy is equipped with modern facilities including an 800-seat auditorium, audio-video facilities and modern lecture halls.
Ambassador of Japan Nobuhito Hobo, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Secretary to the Prime Minister S. Amarasekera, Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. P. B. Jayasundera, and Cabinet Secretary Sumith Abeysinghe were present at the occasion.
