Jan 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka's first test cricket captain Bandula Warnapura is expected to be appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Cricket.
The appointment is to be effective from April 01. The service mandate of the present CEO Ajith Jayasekara is to expire on March 31.
Warnapura, 59, who played four Test matches and 12 One Day Internationals during his international cricketing career from 1975 to 1982, is an experienced cricket administrator.
He one time served as the Asian Cricket Council's third Development Manager, taking the post in July 2008. He has also worked as an ICC match referee and an umpire.
After serving as National Coach, in 1994 he became Sri Lanka's Director of Coaching and since 2001 he has been Director of Cricket Operations. He was Tournament Director of ICC U/19 World Cup 2006.
