Jan 24, Colombo: Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party is considering to appoint more than one deputy leader, party sources say.
According to party sources, the opposition party is considering to appoint two or more deputy leaders and assign them with specific responsibilities.
The Working Committee of the party met January 21 to fill the administrative posts in the party leadership but postponed the appointment of a deputy leader on a request of the party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe.
Last year Sajith Premadasa has served as the deputy leader and before that Karu Jayasuriya and Premadasa served as co-deputy leaders.
Colombo district MP Ravi Karunanayaka's name has also been mooted as the deputy leader of the party, sources say.
