Jan 21, Colombo: Sri Lankan lawyers today signed a petition against the death threats received by a group of lawyers who spoke against the impeachment of Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake and the issues faced by the judiciary.

The Lawyers Collective organized the petition signing campaign outside the Hultsdorf court complex today.

Lawyers signed the petition condemning the death threats on lawyers J.C. Weliamune, M.A. Sumanthiran and President's Counsels Dr. Jayampathi Wickramaratne and Romesh de Silva.

The lawyers received the death threats last week and lodged police complaints. They are to present the signed petition to the President tomorrow.
