Jan 18, Colombo: Sri Lanka's new Chief Justice Mohan Peiris Thursday cancelled transfers of seven upper court judges with immediate effect.
The transfers of the seven judges, to be enacted from January 21, were ordered by the impeached former Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake.
The affected judges have been informed of the cancellation of their transfer orders.
Accordingly, transfers of Colombo High Court Chief Judge Kumudini Wickremasinghe, Gampaha Civil Appeal High Court Judges Saman Wickremasinghe and Shiromi Perera, Ampara High Court Judge Anura Kumara, Anuradhapura Civil Appeal High Court Judge Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne, Avissawella Civil Appeal High Court Judge Ayiraangani Perera and Mount. Lavinia Civil Appeal High Court Judge M. Z. Rasheen will be invalid.
