Jan 18, Colombo: Sri Lanka police are investigating the alleged death threats received by several lawyers who supported former Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake against impeachment, police media spokesman SSP Prishantha Jayakody said.
The police spokesman told media that Kohuwala police has launched a special investigation into a complaint lodged by the Attorney-at-Law J.C. Weliamuna that he has received a threatening letter.
SSP Jayakody confirming the complaint said the threatening letter did not contain any name and it was signed by a name called "Guardian of the Nation".
President's Counsel Dr. Jayampathi Wickramaratne and Attorney M.A. Sumanthiran have also lodged complaints of receiving threatening letters
