Jan 17, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Health says that the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has donated Sri Lanka a set of modern medical equipment worth Rs. 345 million.
The equipment includes two state of the art endoscopy machines and 14 digital x-ray machines which have been already distributed among the Colombo National Hospital and South Colombo Teaching Hospital.
The rest of the equipment is to be distributed among 11 major hospitals in the island including Kandy, Peradeniya, Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa, Karapitiya, Anuradhapura, and Ampara.
JICA has pledged Rs. 4 billion to the Health Ministry to upgrade Sri Lanka's health sector through projects implemented from 2012 to 2014.
