Jan 16, Jaffna: A vehicle used by several rights activists had come under attack in Sri Lanka's North.
The vehicle of leaders of the Movement for Equal Rights had come under a stone attack near the Jaffna Fort around 8:45 a.m. yesterday.
Convener of the Movement, Ravindra Mudalige and several other members of the group were engaged in a campaign to collect signatures for a petition calling for the release of the Jaffna University students currently held at the Welikanda army camp.
Mudalige has said that four men in two motorcycles had thrown rocks at the vehicle and fled. The attack had damaged the front glass pane has of the vehicle.
According to Mudalige, they had managed to get the number plate of the motorcycle and had lodged a complaint giving the number.
