Feb 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka ruling party parliamentarian Thilanga Sumathipala has entered the race for the coveted post of president of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC ).
Sumathipala announcing his candidacy yesterday said he has no barriers for contesting the next month's election for office bearers of the SLC.
He handed over the nomination for the post yesterday with a group. However, his group does not contest the posts of secretary and vice secretary of SLC.

Perera who plans to hand over his nominations today to contest for the presidency of SLC says he will file a detailed objection today.
Sumathipala entered into the race for the presidency last year as well, but pulled out at the last minute leaving Upali Dharmadasa to win the election on January 3, 2012.
Former SLC president and brother of current president Jayantha Dharmadasa says he will also submit nominations today.
Former World Cup winning captain and opposition MP Arjuna Ranatunga says he will decide about contesting to the position today.
Today is the closing date for the nominations and the election of office bearers of SLC is to be held on March 30.
