* Sri Lanka Commercial Court bans a book based on Korean teledrama

Feb 27, Colombo: Colombo Commercial High Court today issued an interim injunction order against a book based on Sinhala dubbed Korean teledrama Jewel in the Palace.

The teledrama was extremely popular in households of Sri Lanka and Janaka Inimankada, the owner of Vidarshana Publishers, published the story of the teledrama.

The book is reportedly selling fast in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka's national TV Rupavahini Corporation has filed the case under Intellectual Property Act claiming that the Corporation has the broadcasting rights of the teledrama and no other party has rights on the Jewel in the Palace.

Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation has sought Rs. 50 million in damage for violating it rights. The case was postponed to March 13.

Dae Jang Geum (sometimes known as The Great Jang Geum, or Jewel In The Palace) is a 2003 TV Series produced by Korean TV channel MBC.
