Feb 26, Colombo: Sri Lanka's major opposition United National Party (UNP) sources say that a special meeting of the UNP leadership is scheduled to be held on March 04.
However, the meeting is not announced as a Working Committee meeting. Party sources say that senior most leaders of the UNP will meet to focus on the appointment of the senior party officials.
UNP is in a crisis in appointing the party deputy leader. Proposals have been mooted to appoint several deputy leaders instead of one. Hambantota district MP Sajith Premadasa held the position earlier but there are other contenders also for the position this time.
The UNP leaders will also discuss about the upcoming Provincial Council election, UNP sources said.
