Feb 25, Colombo: Iran's Ambassador in Colombo Dr. Mohammad Nabi Hassani Pour met Sri Lanka's Buddhist extremist organization, Bodu Bala Sena, today at their headquarters in Colombo.
The Chairman of Bodu Bala Sena organization Ven. Kirama Vimalajothi Thero and the executive committee member Dilantha Vithanage held discussions with the Iranian ambassador on the issue of Halal certification of foods.
Vimalajothi Thero has pointed out to the Ambassador that the Bodu Bala Sena had never agitated against Halal certificate but it urged the Buddhists not to buy Halal products.
He further has said that Bodu Bala Sena respects the rights of the Muslims and it was not anti-Muslim.
Bodu Bala Sena recently held a protest before the Iranian Embassy in Colombo to protest the alleged banning of Buddha statues in that country.
Iranian Ambassador has invited the Bodu Bala Sena to tour in Iran to survey the situation there, local media reported.
