* Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau launches 'Get Sri Lankaned' campaign in Bangalore

Feb 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) today will launch a three- day 'Get Sri Lankaned' tourism promotion campaign in Bangalore, India to woo more Indian tourists and business investors to the island.

The dual-purpose event, which aims to showcase Sri Lanka as a tourist and trade destination, has been organized by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau under the guidance of Economic Development Minister, Basil Rajapaksa.

The campaign will feature an array of activities including media briefings, 'Sri Lankan Evenings' with fashion shows, Sri Lankan food festivals, B2B (business-to-business) meetings between the travel traders of the two countries and business seminars.

These events are held at the Taj Vivanta in Bangalore on 21 February 2013 with the participation of nearly 70 Sri Lankan public and private sector institutions, representing tourism, trade and investment.

The 'Get Sri Lankaned campaign' will also be launched at Garuda Mall in Bangalore which will provide consumers with the opportunity to taste Sri Lankan food, get a glimpse of Sri Lankan culture and traditional dancing, while DJ's and entertainers will interact with the audience. Live games will be organized at the Garuda Shopping Mall and the winners will be awarded with free holiday packages to Sri Lanka.

Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez and Cricketers Sanath Jayasuriya, Mahela Jayawardana, and Tillakaratne Dilshan will also participate in the promotional activities at both venues on the 22nd.

Largest number of tourists to Sri Lanka arrived from India last year. A total of 1,005,605 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka in 2012 and 176,340 arrived from India.
