Feb 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket today announced that former national player Chaminda Vaas has been appointed as the National Fast Bowling coach of the Sri Lanka National Team on a two year contract.
He will lead the Fast Bowling Coaching unit which will also include Champaka Ramanayake and Anusha Samaranayake.
The 39-year-old bowler was recently employed by the New Zealand side in a temporary coaching role during their tour in Sri Lanka.
Vaas retired from Test cricket in July 2009 but continued to play one-days and Twenty20s till the 2011 World Cup.
Sri Lanka Cricket also appointed former cricketer Michael De Soysa as the Manager of the National Team for a period of one year.
De Zoysa, who replaces sacked manager Charith Senanayake, will take charge of the team from this month's home series against Bangladesh.
