Feb 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka Minister of Private Passenger Transport C.B. Rathnayaka announced yesterday that the semi luxury bus service would be abolished with immediate effect.
The buses that are deployed in semi luxury services are to be used for normal bus services.
The Minister said that the officials of the bus owners' associations also agreed to the decision.
He said the Ministry had received a large number of complaints from passengers regarding the poor quality of the service of these semi luxury services that charged higher than the normal bus fare and these private bus services are often overload the buses.
