Feb 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Wimal Weerawansa said that the National Housing Development Authority has identified empty land to the value of Rs. 5 billion.
He said that immediate actions would be taken to distribute these lands among the landless people.
National Housing Development Authority has conducted an island wide survey under the instructions of Minister Wimal Weerawansa and identified 1,080 acres of empty land anew and 516 acres of land squatted.
Addressing a meeting held recently to felicitate a group of employees of the National Housing Development Authority, the Minister stated that Rs. 276 million had been earned by the Ministry by allocating identified state land to people.
