* Unite to defeat the government, divide in elections - Sri Lanka Opposition Leader

Feb 11, Colombo: Sri Lanka Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe said today that the opposition should unite from grass roots level to defeat the Rajapaksa regime and they can divide to contest the elections.

The Opposition Leader expressed these views addressing the gathering after signing an agreement between several opposition parties for a common political programme.

Wickremasinghe said that the united opposition would be the center to rally all the forces against the Rajapaksa regime.

"There is no middle but two sides either the government or the opposition. Therefore nobody can hide behind false statements," Wickremasinghe said vowing to defeat the government.

The united opposition named as the Protest of the Opposition comprises United National Party and several minor political parties.
