* Footwear & Leather Fair 2013 opened in Sri Lanka

Feb 09, Colombo: The 5th Footwear & Leather Fair 2013 showcasing Sri Lanka's leather products and fashion footwear opened in Sri Lanka on Friday at the BMICH in Colombo.

Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa was the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony of the three-day exhibition.

The 2013 fair organized by the ri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) in Association with the Ministry of Industry & Commerce , Industrial Development Board (IDB), Sri Lanka Footwear & Leather Products Manufacturers Association will be held from February 8 -10.

The fair will showcase a wide range of shoes including fashion shoes, rubber boots, beach slippers, safety shoes, sports and canvas shoes etc. and high quality leather goods including leather gloves, travel bags, back packs, ladies handbags, jackets and small leather goods.

The fair is mainly aimed at giving recognition to the industry locally and internationally.

An exclusive fashion show, depicting latest trends in Footwear& Leather Products will be held today (09). In addition, a Design Competition has been organized to identify and encourage the young and upcoming designers and give recognition to them.

This years' Fair, which consists of 214 trade stalls, will also feature Best Stall Competition.

The Footwear & Leather Fair 2013 will be open to public from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.

Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiyutheen, and Minister of Traditional Industries & Small Enterprise Development Douglas Devananda also participated in the opening ceremony
