Feb 04, Colombo: Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has sent felicitations to Sri Lankan Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne, to mark the Independence Day today.

In his message of greetings to the Sri Lankan PM, the Pakistani PM has expressed his confidence that the close ties of friendship and cooperation which characterize the relations between the two countries would continue to be strengthened in the times to come.

The Prime Minister has extended his best wishes for the Sri Lankan PM's health and well-being and continued progress and prosperity of the people of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka celebrates the 65th anniversary of independence from British colonial rule.
