Apr 10, Colombo: An education sector trade union in Sri Lanka says that there have been irregularities in granting appointments to graduate teachers in the North Central Province.

President of the Ceylon Teachers' Union (CTU) Priyantha Fernando issuing a statement that most of the graduate teachers appointments in the North Central Province are being carried out by politicians belonging to the governing party.

Interviews to grant appointments to graduate teachers have commenced on April 1st.

According to Fernando, there are 500 vacancies for graduate teachers in the North Central Province.
