Fri, Nov 30, 2012, 10:20 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Nov 30, Colombo: Proceedings in the Sri Lankan parliament today got interrupted several times due to arguments between the Chair of parliament and the opposition United National Party (UNP) legislators.

A tense exchange of words took place in the House when Parliamentary Chair ruling party MP A.H.M Azwer warned the opposition parliamentarian Ajith Perera regarding allocation of time for the MPs.

Parliament proceedings were suspended for 10 minutes and the Chair ordered the UNP MPs Ravi Karunanayake and Ajith P. Perera to leave the Parliament Chamber.

Later the Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa removed MP Azwer from the chairman panel after examining the removal of MP Perera from the chamber.

The Speaker has warned MP Azwer earlier on several occasions for disturbing opposition MPs during their speeches.

The Chair presides over parliament in the absence of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

The Parliament finally adjourned at 7:25 p.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Monday 3rd December 2012.
