Nov 19, Colombo: A petition has been filed before the Appeals Court of Sri Lanka today seeking a writ order against the parliamentary select committee (PSC) probing the impeachment of the country's Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake.

The petition, filed by an individual named Chandra Jayarathna urging the court to suspend the PSC, has named the members of the PSC as respondents.

The petition also asks the court to issue an interim injunction order suspending the PSC hearing the impeachment until the petition is heard.

A tri-member panel of Appeals Court Judges headed by Justice S. Sriskandarajah and comprising justices Anil Goonaratne and Sisira De Abrew will hear the petition.
