Nov 17, Colombo: Opposition Leader of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremasinghe has appointed a panel of senior lawyers to counsel the opposition representatives to the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake.
President's Counsels Ronald Perera, Pradeep Sotha and Thilak Perera have been appointed to advise the four opposition representatives in the 11-member PSC.
The four opposition MPs in the PSC- John Amaratunga and Lakshman Kiriella of United National Party, R. Sampanthan of Tamil National Alliance and Vijitha Herath of Democratic National Alliance will receive guidance from the panel of lawyers on technicalities.
The PSC commenced sittings on Wednesday (November 14) and the Chief Justice has been summoned to appear before it on November 23.
