Nov 10, Colombo: Teacher trade unions of Sri Lanka have questioned how the government would make arrangements to provide an additional school uniform and shoes to students in remote areas of the country.
The Ceylon teachers Union (CTU) and the Ceylon Teacher Services Union (CTSU) say they are concerned over the government's proposal in 2013 budget to provide additional school uniforms and shoes since there was no proper specification of remote schools in the country.
CTU Secretary Joseph Stalin has said there were no proper criteria for the distribution process.
CTSU Secretary Mahinda Jayasinghe has noted that there were doubts over the government's ability to distribute all these since the current school uniforms given to the students are not made available on time.
