Jan 15, Colombo: Impeached Chief Justice of Sri Lanka Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake told media that she not guilty of the charges the government brought against her.

Speaking to reporters from her car with a broad smile as she was vacating the Chief Justice's official residence at Wijerama Road, Colombo, she said that she was with the people and hoped the people would protect.

She left the official residence this evening around 5.30 in a red car driven by her son. Her husband Pradeep Kariyawasam followed her in another car.

Amidst police attempts to prevent media men speaking to the former Chief Justice, she said that she would make a public statement regarding her experience soon.

Dr. Bandaranayake further said that she was honest and has not even taken the duty free vehicle offered to her by the government and expressed fear for her and her family's life after the government's efforts to sack her.
