Jan 15, Colombo: Former Chief Justice of Sri Lanka Sarath N. Silva has expressed disappointment over the appointment of former Attorney General Mohan Peiris as the next Chief Justice.
Silva has told the media that he had proposed the appointment of a sitting Supreme Court judge as the next Chief Justice and expressed his disappointment at the President's rejection of his proposal in appointing the next Chief Justice.
According to Silva, given the controversy that has been created over the impeachment of the Chief Justice, only the appointment of a senior Supreme Court judge as the next Chief Justice would have resolved the problem.
