Jan 13, Colombo: The Lawyers Collective, a lawyers' organization of Sri Lanka plans to challenge the impeachment of the Chief Justice by taking the matter before the international court.
Attorney-at-law Nuwan Bopage from the Lawyers Collective has told the media that they would also seek the support of the International Bar Council, Commonwealth and the UN.
The Layers Collective has said it would not accept anyone other than the person next in line to be the Chief Justice.
Bopage has said that several government members were of the view that appointing a person to the post of Chief Justice who is not close to the government would pose a risk to the administration.
He has added that the lawyers would continue to protest the government's move.
