Jan 07, Colombo: Attorney General of Sri Lanka has been summoned to appear before the Court of Appeal Monday, January 07th in response to the petition filed by the Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake against the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) that probed the impeachment motion.
A three-member panel comprising justices Sri Skandarajah, Anil Goonaratne and A.W.A. Salam of the Appellate Court has summoned the Attorney General for consultation over the petition of the Chief Justice.
Counsel Romesh Silva appearing for the Chief Justice requested the court on January 03 for a speedy hearing of the petition since the parliament may take action which might adversely affect the Chief Justice.
Considering the request, the panel of judges decided to summon the Attorney General for consultation.
