* Five MPs of Sri Lanka opposition apologize for expressing dissenting views
Fri, Jan 4, 2013, 10:30 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Jan 04, Colombo: Five parliamentarians of Sri Lanka main opposition United National Party (UNP) have apologized to the party leader for expressing dissenting views that were not in line with the collective decision of the UNP hierarchy, party sources said.

Parliamentarians Ajith P. Perera, Ruwan Wijewardene, Niroshan Perera, Dr. Harsha de Silva and Eran Wickramaratne were accused of expressing dissenting views to media over the party's decision not to appear in Appellate Court in response to the summons issued by the court to the members of the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC).

The two UNP members of the PSC, Lakshman Kiriella and John Amaratunga refused to appear in court Thursday since the PSC is fully in the purview of the legislature and not the judiciary and the party is of the view that internal matters in Parliament should not be taken in Courts.
