* Additional allowance for Sri Lanka police officers from today

Jan 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police Department has taken measures to provide a minimum of Rs. 4,500 as an additional allowance to all grades in the Department with effect from today.

Police Media Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prishantha Jayakody said additional allowances will be given for travelling, clothing, rural area service, cleaning and long term service.

Additionally the Officers-In-Charge (OICs) of police stations will be given a special allowance ranging from a minimum of Rs. 2,500 rupees to a maximum of Rs. 6,000 rupees based on their service grade.

The additional allowance has been granted under the President' Mahinda Rajapaksa's 2013 Budget proposal.
