* University student activist attacked in Sri Lanka

Dec 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka's left oriented student organization Inter University Students Federation alleged that a student activist was attacked by unknown groups.

The victim, the former President of Students' Council of Kelaniya University Suranjith Bandara has been attacked while he was walking to the hostel from the University in early hours of today.

The assaulted student has been admitted to Ragama Hospital for treatment.

Sanjeewa Bandara, the convener of the Inter University Students Federation pointed finger at the state defence authorities at a press conference held in Colombo today.

He said the attackers who came in a black trail bike had told the victim he would be assaulted since he pasted posters against the government.
