Dec 09, Colombo: The Colombo District Secretary has called for a speedy conclusion to the investigation into the fire at the Colombo kachcheri last month.

Colombo District Secretary Kamal Padmasiri has said that the investigation needs to gather pace and he had informed the Government Analyst to expedite the investigation.

The Government Analyst is expected to issue a report on the investigation on the fire at the building.

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is also expected to hand over a report determining whether the fire was a result of an electrical short to the Government Analyst.

The area in the building that was affected by the fire is still cordoned off until investigations are concluded.

However, the fire has not obstructed the daily affairs of the Colombo Divisional Secretariat in any way and the functions are being carried out as usual, the official has assured.
