Dec 08, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Ministry of Finance and Planning has announced that the import taxes on big onions and potatoes have been reduced with effect from midnight Friday.
According to the Ministry of Finance and Planning, the special import duty on potatoes and big onions has been reduced by Rs. 35 while the import duty on red onions has been reduced by Rs. 10.
The government has taken the decision to slash import duties to ensure an abundant supply of the items in the market for the holiday season.
