Dec 05, Colombo: The parliamentary select committee (PSC) probing the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake will likely announce the decision on her request to grant her more time for written submissions, political sources said.

The Chief Justice has requested the PSC to grant her five weeks to submit written answers for the 14 charges against her.

Sources say that the PSC will also announce the decision regarding the request on adjourning the proceedings of the PSC for the holiday season.

Major opposition United National Party (UNP) has requested to adjourn the proceedings of the PSC since the parliament enjoys a year end vacation from December 08 to January 08.

Dr. Bandaranayake has been informed to appear before the PSC Thursday at 2.30 p.m. while the PSC will meet Wednesday without her presence.
