Sept 29, Pallekele: Sri Lanka easily scored the modest total set by the West Indies with a loss of only one wicket in the Super Eight Group 1 of the ICC World Twenty20, at the Pallekele International stadium today to secure a semi-final spot.
After winning the toss West Indies set Sri Lanka a modest total of 130 to chase. Sri Lanka's opening batsman Mahela Jayawardena scored a 65 off 49 balls and Kumar Sangakkara, batting after Dilshan Tillakaratne bowled out by Ravi Rampaul for 13, wrapped up the match with score of 39 in the 16th Over.
Captain Mahela Jayawardena is the Man of the Match. His score of 65 included 10 boundaries and one six.
Sri Lanka next play against the current champions England in Super Eight Group 1 on October 1 at Pallekele.
