Sept 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa will hand in appointments for 4,500 individuals in education sector at a ceremony next week.
The event to grant appointments will take place at the Temple Trees on October 02.
The majority of the appointments are to the Sri Lanka Principal Service Grade 2-2 and Grade 3 and 3,500 teachers have been promoted to this position based on results of a competitive examination held in 2005 after a long delay due to judicial proceedings.
Another 121 appointments will be granted to the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service as directors.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has recruited 1,000 graduates through a competitive examination to teach science and mathematics in the 1,000 schools being developed in the country.
