Sept 29, Colombo: The Petroleum Corporation of Sri Lanka has called for tenders to import fuel for a period of six months commencing from November.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has called for tenders to purchase oil through newspaper advertisements.
The Corporation has reportedly called for tenders to import gas oil, 90 octane and 95 octane petrol and Jet fuel.
The CPC has also stipulated that only suppliers registered with the CPC could apply for the tenders.
The move by the CPC to advertise and call for tenders for oil imports has taken place after stopping spot purchases that resulted in the purchase of substandard fuel.
The CPC in the past few months had to face public criticism due to the purchase of contaminated petrol and diesel from a supplier registered with the CPC. The CPC also had to discard a stock of contaminated jet fuel.
