Sept 29, Colombo: Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Authority Dr.Nalaka Godahewa resigned from the post yesterday.
He was recently appointed as the Chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission after the hyped resignation of nationalist politician and businessman Tilak Karunaratne.
Dr. Godahewa's resignation from the post at Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Authority took place a month after his appointment to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission.
He was appointed Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism in June 2010 and the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, Sri Lanka Tourist Board, Sri Lanka Hotels Corporation came under his observation. He tendered his resignation as chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Sri Lanka Tourism Convention Bureau and the Institute of Hospitality Management effective 31 May but remained as chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
Dr. Godahewa, a past student of Colombo Ananda College and Moratuwa University had held the position of the Managing Director of Sri Lanka Insurance previously.
He is qualified in Engineering, Accountancy, and Marketing. He also holds an MBA as well as a PhD from University of South Australia.
