Sept 28, Colombo: Housing, Construction and Engineering Services Minister of Sri Lanka Wimal Weerawansa says the Colombo city that has seen much development would not reach the proper level of development without strengthening the low income earners.
Weerawansa has made this statement during a function organized to mark the World Habitat Day.
He has noted that Sri Lanka is recognized as a country with a developing economy and the Colombo city is also undergoing a development programme.
He explained that the low income earners in the Colombo city need to be empowered since the city cannot be developed by forgetting them.
According to Weerawansa, the strengthening of the large number of low income earners in the city would convert Colombo into one of the most developed cities in the world.
