* Dengue cases decline in Sri Lankan capital in comparison to last year

Sept 26, Colombo: Health authorities say that there has been a decline in the number of dengue patients reported within the Colombo city limits this year compared to last year.

Chief Medical Health Officer of the Colombo Municipal Council, Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasam has said there is a 15 percent decline in the dengue cases reported this year.

He has explained that a total of 2,319 dengue patients had been reported within the Colombo City limits last year.

However, he has noted that the number of patients has declined to 2,000 patients this year.

The Health Ministry last week said that the dengue awareness campaigns carried out throughout the country has helped reduce the spread of dengue.
