Sept 26, Colombo: Malini Fonseka, Sri Lanka ruling party national list parliamentarian who tendered her resignation Monday is to wear in again as a MP on October 09.
She resigned yesterday to pave way for former Chief Minister of North Central Province Berty Premalal Dissanayaka to enter the parliament from the national list.
She handed her resignation papers to the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Parliamentary Secretary and the Election Commissioner.
Parliamentary Secretary and the Election Commissioner accepted her resignation and she lost her seat but the President declined to accept it.
The Election Commissioner has asked the ruling United People's Freedom Alliance to name a person to the vacant national list seat and the party has re-named Malini Fonseka. Her appointment is now gazetted again, parliamentary sources say.
