Sept 25, Colombo: Registered Medical Officers (RMO) and the Assistant Medical Officers (AMO) of Sri Lanka start a continued strike from today demanding a communication allowance.
The Association of the Government Registered and Assistant Medical Officers says the RMPs and AMOs should have the right for the communication allowance paid to the MBBS graduated medical officers of the government hospitals.
The Association said that 1,300 RMOs and AMOs that are employed in 700 rural clinics and hospitals island wide will participate in this strike.
The Association also pointed out that the strike may shut down these medical centers that are mostly situated in the most remote areas of the island.
