Sept 24, Chilaw: Sri Lankan parliamentarian of Vanni District Hunais Farook has met with a road accident early Monday morning on Chilaw-Puttalam road in Mundalama Police area.

Farook and five others have been admitted to the Chilaw Base Hospital after the accident in Battuluoya on the Chilaw-Puttalam road, the police said.

According to eye witnesses, MP's jeep traveling towards Mannar ran off the road, hit a tree and came to a rest after toppling over few times.

The Vanni District MP has received minor injuries in the accident and none of the occupants are in danger, hospital sources said.

High speed in rainy conditions is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Mundalama Police are conducting investigations into the incident.
