Sept 23, Colombo: Sri Lanka police are seeking the Navy's assistance to probe a tour boat accident that resulted in deaths of five people in the southern seas.
Five people died when an excursion boat carrying 11 passengers capsized near the lighthouse in Beruwala in the South Saturday. Two others received injuries and they have been admitted to Beruwala Hospital.
The Police Media Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police Ajith Rohana has said that the police decided to seek Navy's help to conduct investigations into the boat accident since suspicions have risen that the boat may have carried more passengers than its imit.
