Sept 19, Colombo: The Colombo Crime Division of Sri Lanka police today arrested a student union leader for vandalism of government property.
The Police arrested the convener of Inter University Students' Federation, Sanjeeva Bandara under suspicion of damaging a police vehicle Police spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Ajith Rohana said.
The incident took place on August 29 when a student agitation was held before Colombo Fort Railway Station, the Police said.
Sanjeeva Bandara is also accused of causing injuries to four other persons during the protest.
Inter University Students' Federation is affiliated with Sri Lanka' Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP).
