Sept 17, Colombo: West Indies cricket legend and International Cricket Council Hall-of-Famer Brian Lara who is visiting Sri Lanka met President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees Sunday.
The President and the cricketer discussed the progress Sri Lanka has made in the sports sector and the island's achievements in cricket as well as in athletics.
The President also shared a newspaper report on the recent victory at the Paralympic games held in London where a disabled soldier Pradeep Sanjaya won the country's first ever Paralympics medal.
Lara has commented that he has visited the island several times and never witnessed so much development in the country.
The President also took Lara to the Budu Medura at the Temple Trees and explained to him about the religious performances.
