Sept 11, Colombo: Sri Lanka tourism industry sources say that Sri Lanka and the Maldives have discussed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to market the two countries as one destination for tourism.
Discussions in this regard were held between Maldivian Minister of Tourism Ahamed Mohamed and Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa recently in Colombo.
Under the MoU to be signed, the two countries are to market themselves as one destination. The idea is to promote beaches and diving in Maldives, while promoting culture and other activities in Sri Lanka.
The move is expected to help increase arrivals to both countries since tourists will get more value for their money.
