Sept 03, Colombo: The Elections Secretariat of Sri Lanka has received over 300 complaints of election law violations from the Sabaragamuwa, North Central and Eastern provinces.
The Secretariat says the number of complaints received on election law violations stands at 337.
Additional Elections Commissioner R.M.A.L. Ratnayake has said an official from the Elections Department has been assigned to each district where elections are to be held on the 8th.
He has observed that the highest number of complaints have been received from the Anuradhapura District which stands at 59.
The Elections Secretariat notes that the reported election law violations have seen an increase from previous years.
Meanwhile, election monitors note that the highest number of complaints have been received from the Anuradhapura and Ampara Districts.
Executive Director of the Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CAFFE), Keerthi Tannakoon has said that 285 complaints of election law violations have been received from the Anuradhapura and Ampara Districts.
