Oct 27, Colombo: Survey Department of Sri Lanka is to release a new road map of the island by the end of December, the Department sources say.
The road map is to include latest changes of the road network of the island including the Southern Expressway and the new roads built in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.
Senior Deputy Surveyor General P.M.P. Udayakantha revealed that the Department has decided to issue revised versions of road maps in every 6 months' period, considering the rapidly changing road network of the country.
The currently used official road map was issued by the Department in 2010.
A digital version of the road map designed for navigation applications of mobile phones and other devices will also be released.
